a very busy summer (and it's not over yet)

Oh the joy of summer.  The heat in Virginia has been so bad that even the pool isn't refreshing.  But we still push through and try and enjoy the sunshine and our time together as best we can.

We've been on our vacation to Ocean City

Had our lemonade stands

Spent quality time with family

Turned 36...YIKES!!

enjoyed watermelon on our deck

Hosted lots of sleepovers

played with our new puppy

Baked my heart out (as you know)

And my cake business has really kept me on my toes

Lots of cupcake orders

Character cakes

Bridal showers

baby showers

Boy birthdays

Baby birthdays

girl birthdays

and finally...Graduations

PHEW! I'm tired just looking at all of those again.   I love the cake business, and it has been quite an adventure trying to make each deadline this summer with the kids running around me.  Okay, I'm being nice.  Sometimes I want to poke my eyes out and scream when they run around me while I'm piping a delicate line on a cake.

But  here I am anyway, knee deep in buttercream because decorating cakes is my passion.   If you notice I'm not blogging quite as much the rest of the summer, it's because I am still knee deep in buttercream but once the kids are back in school I'm all yours, promise!

 until then...happy baking!

  2. Hi,
Just a note to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. I live in Pennsylvania about 45 miles east of Pittsburgh in Indiana, PA. (Hometown of actor Jimmy Stewart) Your blogs are so fun to receive and I look forward to them. Keep up the good work. I also create decorated cakes. I do this baking in my basement. You can find me in the basement with lots of ice tea and music and buttercream. I love to bake- just like you. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
    Take Care,
    Joanne

  3. Love the monkey cake! Correction, I love all of your cakes. But that monkey cake would have been fantastic for my son's jungle-themed birthday party.

I'll have to try your cinnamon roll recipe. Thanks for sharing!
